Things to Do In The Area

The OK-3 makes a perfect location from which to plan visits to area parks, tourist attractions, and a multitude of fun activities.  Most of these are within an hour's drive making them perfect for day trips but close enough to return later for a little solitude. 

Local Highlights

We're a short drive away from Kerrville, home of the popular Kerrville Folk Festival held each May/June, and the Kerrville Wine and Music Festival held each September.  Kerrville also contains the Gualdalupe River along with great parks and restaurants.  Visit Kerrville

Did you know the Hill Country of Texas has some of the best wineries in the country?  The area is full of vintners offering tours, tasting and occasional live music.  The area even holds fantastic wine-tasting tours each year. Visit Wineries

For great shopping and wonderful cuisine, check out Fredericksburg.  This quaint historic Texas town includes a popular walk-around shopping district, biergartens, museums, and a host of parades and other cultural events, all with a unique German flair.  One of Texas' most unique cities.    Visit Fredericksburg

Everybody's Somebody in Luckenbach!  This tiny community made famous by Willie Nelson and its colorful mayor Hondo Crouch might seem to be just a "spot on the road", but for live country music, it's still the king!  Visit Luckenbach 

What could be better than watching a live performance of a Shakespearean play or a ribald comedy outdoors while a river lazily passes by.  Ingram's Smith-Rich Point Theatre is a great place for high-class entertainment for all ages.  Visit Pointe Theater

Also close by are numrous golf courses, sure to provide the right mix of fun and challenge for any golfer.
For Nature Lovers

Few parks can boast the natural wonders of Enchanted Rock State Park.  A massive batholith (stone outcropping) rises dramatically from the surrounding hills, thrusting pink granite high into the Texas sun.  The park is a favorite of hikers and climbers and provides interpretive programs.  Not to be missed.  Visit Enchanted Rock

Reportedly one of the world's most beautiful caves is the Caverns of Sonora in nearby Sonora, Texas.  This "live" cave is famous for its delicate butterfly-like formations and other geologic marvels.  Visit the Caverns
Further Afield, But Worth the Excursion

Considered one of the most beautiful cities in America, San Antoniois just over an hour's drive away.  This city is famous for its Riverwalk lined with shops and restaurants.  A great place for an evening stroll or a scenic boat ride.  The city is also home to Seaworld and Six Flags theme parks, favorites for young and old alike.  And of course....be sure to see the famous Alamo.  Visit San Antonio  

The Capital of the State of Texas, Austin is a progressive green community with world famous nightlife (considered a live-music capital as well), beautiful parks, and a host of museums, including the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center which specializes in native plants.  Visit Austin
